With over 30 years of experience, he began his career at American National Bank & Trust Co. of Chicago and later led commercial banking teams at Fifth Third Bank. Jeff also spent 15 years in private credit, focusing on equipment finance and capital markets. He holds an MBA and is a sought-after speaker and panelist for organizations like the Association for Corporate Growth and the Equipment Leasing & Finance Association. He has also served on the Chicago Board of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation since 2021.
Kory Bieg, AIA, is the Founder and Principal of OTA+, an architecture, design and research firm that focuses on advanced digital technologies. He is also an Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, specializing in artificial intelligence, 3D technology and digital fabrication. Kory chairs the TxA Emerging Design + Technology Conference and co-directs the TEX-FAB Digital Fabrication Alliance. He will speak on the use of AI in product development and building design, as well as emerging technologies and future trends.
David Chism is President of A David Creation (ADC), a leading marketing agency for painters in Frederick, Maryland. He is also the second-generation owner of Chism Bros. Painting in San Diego, California. David has decades of experience in the painting industry, starting as a teenager working with his father and uncle. He later became the company's chief estimator and led business development and marketing efforts. Additionally, he co-hosts the Commercial Painting Podcast, where he interviews industry experts on topics like marketing, business growth, and succession planning.
Dwain DeVille, Founder of CEO Ride, is an entrepreneur, author and speaker. Over the years, he has crafted a career coaching top CEOs and organizations, becoming a sought-after and respected business advisor. His experience covers the spectrum of business, from small enterprises to major corporations, including the Fortune 100. From intimate mastermind sessions to keynotes at top conferences, Dwain brings his creative approach to topics all those in business can relate to, from powering performance and empowering the second tier to discovering work-life balance.
Sean Gillespie. I came to Harrison Contracting Company in June 2018 following over 30 years in the paint industry with Glidden, ICI, AKZO Nobel, and PPG. I've been blessed to work with some phenomenal people across a variety of sales and marketing leadership roles. In this executive leadership role for HCC, I work to further develop HCC brand image, enhance customer relationships, drive customer retention and develop relevant marketing tools. I love applying my experience to add value in our company-to-client relationships and also across our industry. My passions include church, family and golf.
Gary Gray is the President and Chief Consultant at ESOP Consulting Group, where he helps business owners develop successful exit strategies and provide growth opportunities for employees. Previously, he founded and served as CEO of Graydaze Contracting, a national painting and sealant contractor specializing in the warehouse and manufacturing sectors. Under his leadership, Graydaze grew from a small residential contractor in Tucker, Georgia, to one of the top five largest painting contractors in the U.S., with offices in Atlanta and Salt Lake City. Sold in 2017 as an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, the company has thrived, generating $120 million in revenue and ranking as the second largest painting contractor in the U.S., as well as one of the fastest-growing companies in Georgia and on the INC 5000 list. Steve Hester A key manager of Hester Painting & Decorating since 1996 and currently President, Steve Hester brings to the helm vision for the future of the company, as well as finance, legal and marketing knowledge. Steve is a member of the Young President's Organization and is active in Chicagoland's civic and philanthropic community. Steve earned an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management in 2004. He is Co-Founder of the Commercial Painting Industry Association.
Aaron Hockel, a contractor marketing expert, is a partner and vice president at AltaVista Strategic Partners. For over a decade, Aaron and the AltaVista team have worked with commercial painting contractors to grow and scale their repaint business using targeted marketing and digital advertising campaigns. His speaking experience includes the International Roof Expo, International Sign Expo, and IFMA's World Workplace Convention among others.
Chris Kiefer is an engineer, entrepreneur, and thought leader. In 2013, he founded SkEye Media, a leading medical marketing agency, and later launched Boolean Review, the highest-converting Google review software in the market. In 2022, he created Boolean Automation to provide no-code automation solutions for residential and commercial painting companies. He also hosts the Pursuit of Purpose podcast, where he interviews successful entrepreneurs and inspiring individuals from around the world.
Scott Lollar is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in the painting industry, including 20 years as the owner of his own successful company. For the past decade, he has focused on helping other businesses scale, driving rapid growth and enhancing operational efficiency. With extensive knowledge in all facets of business management, including overseeing multi-million dollar operations, Scott excels at identifying and addressing areas of weakness for business owners. He specializes in assisting companies aiming to surpass the $1,000,000 revenue milestone and achieve sustained success.
Johnny Maghzal is the Head of Growth at Togal.AI, where he helps customers maximize the benefits of the company's innovative takeoff software. Previously, he served as Head of Product Development, managing the software's daily development needs. Johnny holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, a master's in Industrial Engineering and an MBA. With nearly a decade of experience in the construction industry, he is an estimating expert. Jann Maxwell earned an architecture degree that paved the way for his jump into construction. He has headed up coatings and wallcovering estimating at several San Francisco Bay Area firms over the last 46 years and has served as Vice President of the Painting & Wallcovering Division at Magnum for the past 14. Jann splits his time commuting between the company's offices in Northern and Southern California and working remotely from his homes in Phoenix, Arizona, and Bradenton, Florida
Jim McBrayer began his career in outside sales at PPG Industries, where he achieved notable success by securing the largest account in the company's history. He eventually became Sales Director, overseeing 150 sales representatives and several Regional Sales Managers, and was appointed to PPG's Sales Leadership Team. After 21 years with PPG, he left in 2009 to pursue his passion for helping others improve their sales effectiveness by launching his own sales training company, with PPG as his first client.
Aaron Moore is the Founder and President of PPD Painting. Under his leadership, the company has made the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies list six times and received Inc.'s Hire Power Award. He is also a co-founder of the Commercial Painting Industry Association and co-host of the Commercial Painting Podcast. Aaron's insights are featured in publications such as Inc., American Paint Contractor, inPaint, Commercial Painting, and CoatingsPro magazines. He lives in Bozeman, Montana, with his family.
Kevin Nolan founded Nolan Painting in 1979, growing it into one of the largest and most successful employee-based painting companies in the nation. He is the author of Organizational Muscle, published in 2023, which introduces a business operating system designed to optimize knowledge and activities for lasting organizational success. In addition to his professional achievements, Kevin is an Ironman and endurance athlete, with a notable accomplishment of running a marathon in each of the 50 states.
Brian O'Malley. As an adventurer, author and award-winning photographer, O'Malley has done what others have only dreamed of. His journeys across the globe have taken him from the slopes of Mt. Everest to the jungles of Africa. His diverse career roles have included mountain guide, Everest climber, paramedic firefighter, police officer, SWAT team member, urban rescue specialist, mountain rescue lead, paragliding pilot, wish grantor for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Three Principles Practitioner.
Now, as an executive coach, corporate thought leader and popular speaker, he helps entrepreneurs learn how to take risks wisely, build courage and achieve their potential.
Matt Orme began working manual labor jobs in junior high and high school, gaining valuable experience on a blueberry farm, with a small general contractor and in hardwood flooring and painting. After college, he taught and coached basketball and soccer at a private school, painting during the summers to support his family. This experience allowed his to learn from skilled craftsmen, eventually leading to a full-time painting career and roles as an estimator and project manager. Over the next 20 years, he worked for two paint and wall covering companies in Southeast Pennsylvania, managing projects ranging from $1,000 to $1,000,000.
Elizabeth Perez-Lavin is the President of Service Contracting Solutions, where she leads strategy, performance, and financial operations. Her motivation and ambition stem from her life experiences and a strong commitment to leadership, growth, and continuous improvement. Brion D. Palmer is CEO of Technology Publishing Company (TPC), the business-to-business media company that has served paint and coatings industry professionals since 1984. In 2020, TPC established a partnership with the CPIA and closely works with the association on its quarterly magazine, Commercial Painting, its monthly e-newsletter, the CPIA Leadership Conference, the CPIA Executive Member Retreat, membership recruitment and various operational disciplines. Since the partnership's formation, Brion and his team have been pleased to see, firsthand, the growth and success of the CPIA.
Andy Roe began his career painting residential homes in Boise in the 1990s. In 2000, he moved to Hawaii to start Roe Painting, managing crews on Kauai and Oahu. He returned to Idaho in 2005 to expand Roe Painting in the Treasure Valley, and by 2010, the company had grown to include Northern Nevada. With 25 years of industry experience, Andy has handled major commercial renovations, new residential builds, and the day-to-day operations of Roe Painting. As CEO, he focuses on supporting the administration team in the company's Boise office but occasionally flies his Cessna to job sites throughout Southern Idaho and Northern Nevada. Andy's vision is to transition Roe Painting into an employee-owned company.
Sam Scaturro is the President and Owner of Alpine Painting & Sandblasting Contractors, Alpine Specialty Flooring, and Alpine Welding and Fabrication. As a second-generation Owner, he brings a wealth of experience to the family business. Sam also serves as the Immediate Past Chairman of the Board for the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP), where he contributes to advancing industry standards and best practices.
Ian Siegner is the owner of Siegner and Company Commercial Painting, a family business with deep roots in the industry. He began his journey in painting as a teenager, mastering various entry-level tasks, then gained valuable experience working in paint stores. Ian earned a bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Oregon, which equipped him with innovative insights into business and technology. Upon taking over the family business, Ian implemented changes in estimating, project management, and field operations to enhance efficiency and sustainability. He is committed to maintaining the trust and stability established by his parents while pursuing new opportunities for growth and excellence in commercial painting. Mike Stanley's responsibilities as Executive Director of the CPIA include member and industry partner discovery and recruitment, peer group development and facilitating, as well as creating and managing all assets and tools that define the CPIA community and return value for the association membership. In past, he served as Publisher and Chief Executive for various magazines focused on commercial interior design and architecture, including a role as Publishing Director for the American Society of Interior Designers magazine. Mike has spoken at numerous conferences and contributed expert content to industry publications. He resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Kathleen Steele is a visionary leader and entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in corporate strategy, branding, marketing, and technology. As CEO of Red Caffeine, a growth consultancy, she helps mid-market companies in manufacturing, technology, professional services, and education develop effective strategies. Kathleen has advised executives on launching new products, enhancing brand perception, and improving human capital strategies. She is also a recognized speaker and author, with accolades including the Inc. 5000, Enterprising Woman of the Year, and the James Tyree Emerging Business Leadership Award.
Brian Struble is originally from Bradenton, Florida, where he began painting with his father during high school. After taking over the family business, he specialized in new residential and commercial painting. He holds a BS in management from the University of South Florida and an MBA from Liberty University. At Sherwin-Williams, he held various management and marketing roles, developed internal sales training programs and contributed to the launch of the Pro+ app. He later purchased Shaver Painting and Decorating, transforming the company into a thriving business. With his wife, Karina, and management team, he is focused on expanding both the commercial and residential divisions. Passionate about mentoring, Brian also coaches painting business owners on team building, business systems and integrating commercial painting into their product mix with Scott and Rick at Consulting 4 Contractors.
